Mel’s Story..
“Starting in the beauty and hair industry when I was 16 years old has provided a unique perspective on self-expression and creativity. Being surrounded by beauty products, tools, and techniques from a young age instilled a deep appreciation for the artistry that goes into enhancing one's appearance. Witnessing firsthand the transformative power of makeup and hairstyles fueled a passion for helping others feel confident and beautiful. Dedicating my career to this industry also meant learning the importance of self-care and the significance of grooming routines in maintaining overall well-being. It was a world where trends evolved rapidly, pushing for innovation and adaptability. Overall, the experience of growing up in the beauty and hair industry was both enriching and inspiring, shaping a lifelong commitment to celebrating individuality and enhancing natural beauty.”

Mel’s Career timeline.
2008 - Mel started off by completing her Certificate 3 in Beauty Therapy while studying in grade 10 and working a part time job to pay off the course.
2009 - Mel landed a full time hairdressing apprenticeship with one of the best, well named hairdresser’s in Launceston Chris Fidler.

2012 - Mel branched out into a faster paced salon at Bladerunner where she worked under Glenn + Cathryn. While working for them she became a manager and learnt to how to successfully run a business under the successful business model that Glenn + Cathryn has established.
2014 - Having the drive to pursue her own business Mel went on to rent a chair at Dollhouse Hair Launceston and worked alongside some of the most amazing women.
While working there Mel started up a wholesale business and become to educator and stockist for Natulique in Tasmania.
2016 - Mel travelled to America to become one of the first NovaLash qualified Lash Extensionist in Australia. Novalash was the longest standing, highest quality extensions brand on the market and still to this day their adhesive is the top award earner for lash glue. Novalash took Mel on as their distributor and educator in Australia + New Zealand where Mel travelled educating Beauty Therapists to become Lash Artists.
During this time Mel also opened Silo Hair Salon at the Silo Hotel
2017 - Mel opened Silo Beauty at the Silo Hotel
2021 - Mel rebranded Silo Beauty into Cosmelle Beauty and opened up her bigger location.
2023 - Mel introduced Hairdressing into the Cosmelle location becoming one of the only co Hair + Beauty spaces.
